Villas with a Pool for Rent in Saly
No villas listed in Saly yet
The page exists, the properties are on their way. In the meantime, here are other options for your stay — and if you own a property in the area, now's the time to list it.
In Saly, the beach is not a place to rest. It is a place of commerce, and that is actually what keeps part of the resort going: bracelet sellers, tailors taking measurements with their feet in the sand, offers of pirogue rides, quad bikes, massages, hair braiding. Many travelers love it. Others discover on day three that they haven't managed to finish a single chapter.
That is the real reason to look for a villa with pool in Saly rather than anywhere else. The pool isn't a comfort extra: it is the only place in the resort where you can be in your swimsuit without being approached. You are not renting a pool, you are renting a wall around a pool — and in Saly, that wall has a very specific practical value.
Why a pool changes everything in Saly
Saly Portudal was designed in the 1970s as a beach resort, with a wide-open beach and a seafront economy that grew up around visitors. The result, fifty years later, is a dense, lively coastline where there are people around at all hours. The swimming is good — the sand is fine, the water is clear behind the breakwaters — but you are never alone.
A villa with a pool completely reverses the typical day. Instead of going down to the beach in the morning and coming back in the heat of the day, you stay put. The kids spend the day in the water without anyone organizing anything, drinks are had on site, naps and swims follow one another, and the beach goes back to being what it is nice to be: an outing you choose, not a fixed part of the schedule.
This shift has a practical consequence worth anticipating. If the pool becomes the center of gravity of your stay, then what matters is the pool area, not the house's spec sheet: a terrace directly overlooked by neighbors cancels out the benefit, a south-facing pool without a square meter of shade is unusable from noon to 4 p.m. in the dry season, and a four-by-three-meter pool doesn't do the same job as one you can swim laps in. Look at the photos in that order.
Where exactly to look in Saly
"Saly" covers several neighborhoods that are nothing alike, and the right choice depends mostly on how far you are willing to walk.
Saly Portudal, the historic core, is home to the hotels, restaurants and nightlife. A villa with a pool here is an island of calm in the middle of the action: you walk out in the evening, walk back, and don't need a car. The trade-off is that you hear the resort.
Saly Niakh Niakhal, to the north, is more residential: bigger plots, quieter streets, more houses surrounded by gardens. This is where pools are on average the most generous, but a car becomes useful for anything beyond the nearest beach.
Saly Nord and the area around the golf course form a third zone, even more spread out, with stand-alone villas on real grounds. Very quiet, but you can't do anything on foot.
The criterion that sorts them best, in practice, is the surface of the access road. A villa reached by a sandy track requires a suitable vehicle and makes coming home at night harder; a villa on a paved road right up to the gate changes day-to-day comfort. Ask about it, as it is almost never in the listing.
What you will find on Senegal Rent today
Let's be straightforward: our selection of villas with pool in Saly is still being built. We are opening this page now because the demand exists and is steady all year round, and because this is also how owners find us. We would rather tell you than display an empty list.
In the meantime, two useful options ten to fifteen minutes away by car. The villas with pool in Ngaparou follow a very similar logic in a much quieter village, and the villas with pool in Nianing put you a little further south, on a less built-up coast. You stay within the same range of activities and beaches.
If being in Saly itself matters most to you, also look at the villas in Saly without the pool filter and the hotels in Saly, some of which have a pool open to guests. Depending on your group, a hotel may even suit you better: it takes meals and upkeep off your hands, which counts for a lot on a short stay.
When to go
From November to May, the dry season brings clear skies, cool nights and dry air. This is high season, and also when the pool proves most useful, for a reason people don't anticipate: from February to April, cold-water upwelling along the coast brings the sea down to around 19 to 21°C. That is bracing. A shallow pool, in the sun all day, stays noticeably warmer — and it is often what saves the kids' swims in February.
From June to October, the rainy season (hivernage) brings heat, humidity and some storms, especially in August and September. The sea warms back up to 27–29°C from July to October, the vegetation is green, prices drop and the resort empties. The pool is then less for warming up than for cooling off during the day, and many families from the Senegalese diaspora choose exactly this period.
Two dates to note on the calendar: the French school vacations at year-end and in February, which fill the Petite Côte, and New Year's, when villas are often booked six months in advance.
Budget
A villa with pool in Saly generally costs more than a comparable villa without one, and the reason is simple: maintaining a pool is a real monthly cost for the owner, between chemicals, the pump and electricity. The premium is higher in high season than in the rainy season.
Three items weigh more than the listed price on a stay of a week or more. Staff first: caretaker, housekeeping, sometimes cooking — check what is included and how often, because the difference between daily and weekly cleaning is quickly felt with eight people. Electricity next, especially if the house has air conditioning: some rentals charge it by meter reading. And finally the car, essential as soon as you leave Saly Portudal.
On the other hand, a villa automatically brings two expenses down: meals, since you cook, and accommodation per person once there are more than four of you. The math tips at around six.
Who is it for
Families with young children, first of all, because an enclosed pool lets you drop the constant supervision a busy beach demands. Still, check whether there is a fence or gate: it is not a given.
Groups of friends and extended families coming as six, eight or ten: the pool is what keeps a group together on site, and what makes it possible not to go out every other day.
Residents of Senegal and the Senegalese diaspora, who know Saly and are often looking for a long weekend rather than a week, with the extended family. This is the profile for whom the resident rate and long-stay discounts matter most.
Returning travelers — Saly has many regulars — who, after two or three hotel stays, want to try a house, self-catering and their own pace.
Do you own a villa with pool in Saly?
This page is also a gateway for owners. Saly is the area of Senegal with the highest demand for villas with pools, and it is currently where our catalog is thinnest: that gap is an opportunity, not a problem.
The model is easy to understand from the owner's side. We work as a booking intermediary: the traveler secures their stay online with 20% of the total, and you collect the balance directly on arrival, usually in cash. You stay in control of your calendar, your rates and your relationship with your guests, whom you talk to from the moment they book.
Whether you are a private owner with one house or an agency with a portfolio, the process is the same: fill in the owner registration form and we will call you back. If you are already on international platforms, that is not an obstacle — in fact, it is often the starting point for the conversation.
Good to know & booking
Saly is about 80 kilometers from Dakar on the toll highway, or one and a half to two hours depending on traffic leaving the capital. From the international airport, the trip is shorter and you can book it in advance through airport transfers — handy when you arrive at night with children and suitcases.
Around the villa, everything is within reach: the Saly area has the densest range of activities in the country, from quad biking to boat trips, and the Bandia reserve is forty minutes away.
You pay 20% of the total online to secure the villa, then the balance to the owner on arrival. For a group villa rental, this setup has a concrete effect: your budget stays available for flights, the car and day-to-day expenses until the day you leave. For villas in high season, the owner may ask for an additional deposit — it is shown on the listing and follows the same policy.
Cancellation is free up to 7 days before arrival in low season (June 1 – October 31) and up to 14 days in high season (November 1 – May 31); after that, the booking is final and the 20% is non-refundable. A booking canceled within 24 hours of confirmation is fully refunded if arrival is more than seven days away. Last-minute bookings are final upon confirmation, with one date change allowed up to 48 hours before. If the owner cancels on their side, we offer you an equivalent villa on the Petite Côte or refund all fees in full. The resident rate is shown on every listing for residents of Senegal and the Senegalese diaspora, on an account verified after a phone call. The tourist tax is added to the rate: allow 1,000 FCFA per person per night, paid on site to the owner. Senegal Rent does not collect it; we mention it for your budget.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't this page show any villas yet?
Because our selection of villas with pool in Saly is being built right now. We are opening the page so that both travelers who are searching and owners who rent can find us. In the meantime, Ngaparou and Nianing offer an alternative fifteen minutes away.
Is a pool really useful in Saly, with the beach right there?
Yes, for two separate reasons. Saly's beach is busy and commercial, which many people enjoy but some find tiring: the pool offers the only private space of your stay. And from February to April, the sea drops to around 19–21°C, a bracing temperature for children, while a pool in the sun stays warmer.
How long does it take to get to Saly from Dakar?
Allow one and a half to two hours on the toll highway, depending on traffic leaving the capital. From the international airport, the trip is shorter. A transfer booked in advance makes nighttime arrivals easier.
Do I need a car for a villa stay in Saly?
It depends on the neighborhood. In Saly Portudal, you can get around mostly on foot. In Niakh Niakhal, Saly Nord or near the golf course, a car becomes necessary for shopping, the beach and outings. Also check the surface of the access road right up to the gate.
Is the pool safe for young children?
Not always, and it almost never appears in listings. Ask explicitly whether there is a fence, a gate or a cover, and how soon it can be in place. Direct contact with the owner, opened as soon as you book, is there for exactly this kind of check.
How does payment work?
You pay 20% online when you book, which secures the villa, then the balance directly to the owner on arrival, usually in cash. An additional deposit may be requested for villas in high season or long stays; it is shown on the listing and follows the same cancellation policy.
I own a villa with pool in Saly: how do I list it?
By filling in the owner registration form. Private owners and agencies are welcome, including if your property is already on an international platform. You keep your calendar and your rates, and you collect the balance directly when the traveler arrives.
