Villas for Daily Rental in Ngaparou
No villas listed in Ngaparou yet
The page exists, the properties are on their way. In the meantime, here are other options for your stay — and if you own a property in the area, now's the time to list it.
Ngaparou is 80 kilometers from Dakar. For a day trip from the capital, that does not work: three to four hours of round-trip driving for six or seven hours on site is a losing trade-off from the start. So that is not what this page is about.
Day rentals in Ngaparou meet two very real needs that are rarely catered to. The first is the end of your stay: you check out of your room at 11 a.m., your flight leaves at 11 p.m., and you have twelve hours to fill with suitcases, children and rising heat. The second is the Petite Côte's own residents — families from Mbour, Saly and Somone — looking for a place to hold a ceremony without going far.
Departure day, or why day use exists here
Anyone who has flown out of Senegal in the late afternoon knows this moment. The hotel or guesthouse frees up the room in late morning, the transfer to the airport in Diass leaves in late afternoon, and there are five to seven hours when you are nowhere. You drag your luggage around, you hold on to a restaurant table longer than is reasonable, the kids get restless, and you reach boarding exhausted.
A villa rented for the day solves all of that at once. You drop off your bags, take a last swim, have a relaxed lunch in your own space, the children nap in the afternoon, everyone showers and changes before leaving, and you get in the car rested. The cost bears no comparison with an extra night, and the comfort is nothing like a waiting room.
Two points make this option workable or not, and they need to be spelled out: the latest departure time, which has to cover your transfer and not just 6 p.m.; and the availability of showers and a space to change after packing up. These are the two questions to ask first.
The other use: a ceremony close to home
The second audience for this page lives on the Petite Côte. For a family from Mbour, Saly or Somone, holding a naming ceremony or a birthday at home is not always possible — not enough space, no garden, neighbors. A villa rented for the day in Ngaparou offers an enclosed, leafy plot with a pool and room to set up tables, fifteen minutes from home.
Ngaparou is particularly well suited because the village grew as single-story villas on large planted plots, which provides natural shade — a rare commodity on the coast. The questions to settle are then those of any event: allowed capacity, restrooms accessible from the garden, whether an outside caterer is allowed, sound system and end time. Settle them in writing with the owner before confirming; their contact details are available to you as soon as you book.
What "day rental" means here
Family villa with garden and pool — the most common format in the village. You rent only the living areas and the outdoor space. Perfect for the end of a stay for six or eight people, or a family lunch.
Large villa with an event space — six bedrooms or more, a sizable plot, a pool big enough for a group. The format for local ceremonies with more than twenty-five people.
Villa near the beach — a few houses are less than five minutes' walk from the sand. The right choice for a last day when you want to see the sea one more time before leaving.
Day use at a guesthouse — several properties in the village agree, outside high season, to provide a room and pool access for the day. It is often simpler and cheaper than a whole villa for two or three people: ask at the guesthouses in Ngaparou.
Where you are
Ngaparou sits between Saly to the north and Somone to the south, on the Petite Côte. For a day rental, two location criteria stand out.
Proximity to the main road, first, because that is how your guests arrive or your transfer leaves. The heart of the village is reached by sandy streets; count the actual time, not the distance.
Distance to the beach, next, if your day is built around a final swim. There are few houses on the seafront; from the village, allow five to ten minutes on foot.
For a departure, keep the route in mind: the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) in Diass is about an hour from Ngaparou, without going through Dakar. It is a real advantage of the Petite Côte, and it determines what time you need to leave the house.
When to go
From November to May, the dry season is also the peak tourist season: villas are largely booked for overnight stays and daytime availability shrinks. If you know your departure date, book early — especially around the holidays and school vacations.
From June to October, the rainy season (hivernage) frees up the houses and days can be booked easily, even a few days ahead. It is hot and humid, showers are short and often at night, and the pool becomes very welcome in the afternoon.
One point specific to day use: availability depends directly on the house's overnight booking calendar. A villa free between two bookings will gladly accept a day rental; the same house will say no in the middle of Christmas week. This page only lists houses open to this format, but the date is still decisive.
Good to know & booking
Do your shopping in Mbour or Saly, fifteen minutes away: the village shops will help in a pinch but cannot supply lunch for fifteen. If your day is the end of your stay, keep one bag handy with what you will need — the rest can stay loaded in the car.
If you still have time for one last outing, the Somone lagoon can be explored by pirogue five minutes away, and the Bandia reserve is half an hour away — an option that works well on the morning of a departure day, before heading to the house for the afternoon.
This page only lists houses that accept day rentals; the full selection, with overnight stays, is on the page for villas for rent in Ngaparou, and houses with a pool on the page for villas with a pool.
You pay 20% of the total online to secure the date, then the balance to the owner on the day, usually in cash. For a ceremony with shared costs, one person books and collects afterward. No tourist tax is due: it is calculated per person per night, and a day rental involves none.
Cancellation is free up to 7 days before the chosen date in low season (June 1 – October 31) and 14 days in high season (November 1 – May 31); after that the booking is final and the 20% is non-refundable. Canceled within 24 hours of confirmation, a booking is fully refunded if the date is more than seven days away. Last-minute bookings are final upon confirmation, with one change of date allowed up to 48 hours before — which covers a rescheduled flight. If the owner cancels, we offer you an equivalent house between Ngaparou, Somone and Saly, or refund all fees in full. The resident rate is shown on every house for residents of Senegal and the Senegalese diaspora, on an account verified after a phone call.
Who is it for?
Travelers at the end of their stay, first and foremost: room checked out in the morning, flight in the evening, and a whole day to fill with luggage. This is the main use of this page.
Petite Côte families — Mbour, Saly, Somone, Nianing — organizing a naming ceremony or a birthday and looking for an enclosed garden with a pool fifteen minutes from home.
Groups staying in a hotel who want a day of independence: cooking for themselves, being among themselves, letting the children stay in the water with no schedule.
And finally, long layovers — travelers in transit with a distant connection — for whom a villa an hour from the airport beats a terminal lounge.
Frequently asked questions
Can you come from Dakar for the day in Ngaparou?
It is possible but not worthwhile: 80 kilometers, meaning three to four hours of round-trip driving for a six- or seven-hour day. For a day trip from Dakar, Yène or Lake Retba (Pink Lake) are much better suited. A day in Ngaparou is aimed first at the end of a stay and at local Petite Côte residents.
What is an end-of-stay rental?
Your accommodation frees up the room in late morning and your flight leaves in the evening: you rent a villa for the day to drop off your bags, have lunch, swim, let the kids nap and shower before leaving. Settle two points: the latest departure time, which has to cover your transfer, and access to showers after packing up.
How far is it from the airport?
The international airport in Diass is about an hour from Ngaparou, without going through Dakar. It is a real advantage of the Petite Côte on a departure day, and it determines what time you need to leave the house.
Can you hold a naming ceremony or a birthday?
Yes, and that is the second use of this page. Settle in writing with the owner, before confirming: allowed capacity, restrooms accessible from the garden, whether an outside caterer is allowed, sound system and end time. Their contact details are available to you as soon as you book.
Is availability good?
It depends on each house's overnight booking calendar. From June to October, days can be booked easily, sometimes a few days ahead. From November to May, in high season, villas are largely booked: reserve as soon as you know your date.
Is there shade in the gardens?
Ngaparou is one of the few places on the coast where the shade is often natural: the village grew as single-story villas on planted plots, with mature trees. Still, ask for confirmation, as it varies from one house to another.
How does payment work, and is there a tourist tax?
You pay 20% online to secure the date, then the balance to the owner on the day, usually in cash. No tourist tax is due: it is charged per person per night, and a day rental involves none. For a shared ceremony, one person books and collects afterward.
