Camping Les Jardins Fleuris de Lompoul-sur-Mer
Tents in the garden, between the ocean and the dunes
The whole campsite is organized around the garden, onto which every tent opens. Nine single-level tents in four formats. The two family tents sleep three, with an extra-large double bed and a single bed. The "large bed" tent has an extra-large double bed for two. The four twin tents have two single beds, and the two double tents have one double bed. Alongside, ten bare pitches welcome those who arrive with their own tent.
This is camping, and it should be said plainly: the tents have neither air conditioning nor TV, and the bathrooms are grouped in a shared block. In return, wifi is free throughout, reception is open 24/7, and everything else is designed for outdoor living: garden, terrace, covered pool, campfire in the evening, pétanque court and board games.
Breakfast is included in the price of the tents, served from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., buffet or continental. The restaurant and bar take over for lunch and dinner, at extra cost. The campsite has a security guard; free parking is 500 meters away. A shuttle to Saint-Louis airport is available at extra cost, and car rental is possible.
You can arrive at any time, since reception never closes; check-out is at 10:30 a.m., and a later departure can be arranged on site. Children are welcome and under-twos stay free; pets are accepted, and events are possible. No smoking in the tents. A long-stay rate applies from seven nights, and a resident rate is available on request.
It particularly suits families and groups of friends who want a night in the open air without giving up a proper breakfast, hikers and travelers on their way to Saint-Louis who want to see the desert, campers with their own gear, and long, quiet stays.
Where Camping Les Jardins Fleuris is located
The campsite is in Thioukoune Peulh, a neighborhood of Lompoul-sur-Mer, in the municipality of Kébémer, on the coast of the Louga region. The ocean beach is a ten-minute walk away, and the Lompoul desert fifteen to twenty minutes by car.
From Dakar, allow about 3 h to 3 h 30 by road; from Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD), about 3 h. That is a bit long for a weekend round trip, but very realistic for two nights or more, and it is a natural stop on the way to Saint-Louis, whose airport is 97 kilometers away, about 1 h 30.
