Fan-cooled Standard room - Résidence Elupaay
Ziguinchor · Casamance
Résidence Elupaay has nineteen rooms spread over two floors, with no elevator, plus a garden and a terrace. The range is deliberately broad: three categories: seven fan-cooled Standard rooms and six air-conditioned Luxury rooms, for one or two guests, and six air-conditioned family suites that sleep up to four. All have a private bathroom with shower, a desk, a TV and free Wi-Fi; beds are either a super king (2 m × 2 m) or twin beds.
Breakfast is included throughout. The restaurant serves Casamance cuisine, half board is available in the air-conditioned Luxury room, and there is room service. Reception is open 24/7, Wi-Fi covers the whole property, and the generator keeps things running when the grid fails — which, in Ziguinchor, is no small matter if you have a report to file in the evening. Parking and a security guard complete the picture.
The residence has a conference room: meetings, workshops, training sessions, with accommodation and meals on site. Housekeeping is provided.
Children are welcome and pets accepted; private parties are not allowed. Check-in is from noon, check-out before 11:00; a late check-out can be negotiated. Staff speak French, Wolof and Diola.
It suits work assignments and NGO or government teams passing through Ziguinchor, organizers of seminars and training sessions, families in town for a ceremony, members of the Senegalese diaspora returning home, long stays, and travelers stopping over before heading on to the coast.
The residence is in Ziguinchor, the capital of Casamance, on the Airport Road: Ziguinchor's airfield is very close, and the town center and port are a few minutes away by car.
From Dakar, there are two realistic options: flying, about an hour from Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD), or the overnight Dakar–Ziguinchor boat, which docks at the town's port. There is also the road, through the Gambia, but it makes for a long day.
The town is the starting point for all of Lower Casamance: Enampore and its impluvium house, about half an hour away; Oussouye and Diola country, just under an hour away; and then Cap Skirring and its beaches, about 70 km away.
