Villas for Daily Rental in Nianing
No villas listed in Nianing yet
The page exists, the properties are on their way. In the meantime, here are other options for your stay — and if you own a property in the area, now's the time to list it.
In Senegal, a beach costs nothing. What costs something is everything behind it: a place to leave your things without watching them, shade that holds between noon and 4 p.m., toilets, a shower to rinse off the salt, a kitchen so you don't have to eat a sandwich, and a gate you can close.
That's exactly what you rent in Nianing for a day. The village is the place on the Petite Côte where villas still have direct access to the sand on large plots — a layout that has become rare further north. Renting one of these houses for eight hours means treating yourself to a beach with a base behind it.
Why a "private beach" day makes sense in Nianing
Nianing marks the point where the tourist development spreading from Saly stops. To the north, the coastline is built up all the way; to the south, heading toward Joal, it empties out. The village sits exactly on that line, which explains its villas: large plots, often with a small gate or a staircase leading straight down to the sand.
For a day trip, this layout changes everything. No back-and-forth between a parking lot and a towel, no bags left unattended, and no packing up camp for every lunch. The garden is an extension of the beach: the children run back and forth between the two, your things stay in the shade, and lunch is eaten at a table.
An honest limit needs to be set: on this coast, swimming depends on the state of the sea that day. Some days it's calm and perfect, on others the swell makes it hard to go in with young children. That's why a house with a pool as well as beach access is worth the extra for a day: it doesn't depend on the marine weather.
What to settle before booking
Beach access. "Direct access" covers very different realities: a masonry staircase, a small gate onto the sand, or a sandy bank that erodes in the rainy season (hivernage). With elderly relatives, a stroller or coolers, the difference is decisive. Ask for a precise description, not a stock phrase.
Shade on the garden side. There is none on the beach. So everything depends on what the house offers: a straw shelter, a shade sail, mature trees. It's the deciding factor between noon and 4 p.m., and you can't see it in a photo taken in the morning.
Outdoor shower and toilets. A day at the beach means salt and sand for everyone. A garden shower and toilets you can reach from outside, without going through the bedrooms, make a huge difference to a group's comfort.
Number of guests allowed and hours. Capacity is set by the owner and rarely written down; give your real headcount before confirming. Do the same for arrival time and latest departure time, which vary from house to house.
What "day use" means here
Villa with direct beach access — the area's signature layout and the real reason to come. Large plot, gate or staircase to the sand, a garden you can use as a base. It's the most requested option for day use.
Villa with beach access and a pool — the same, plus swimming that doesn't depend on the state of the sea. The extra cost is justified as soon as there are young children in the group.
Family villa set back from the beach — five or ten minutes' walk from the sand, on a larger plot and at a lower rate. The right compromise when the day centers on the garden and lunch rather than on the beach itself.
Large house for gatherings — for a family celebration of more than twenty-five people, with a covered area for tables and, ideally, separate toilets.
Where you are
Nianing is a few kilometers south of Mbour, about 90 kilometers from Dakar. As with Ngaparou, the distance rules out a day trip from the capital: this page is for people who live locally or are already on the coast.
The seafront is where the villas with direct access are, on large plots. It's the heart of the offering and what sets Nianing apart from its neighbors.
The village and the area behind it offer even larger plots for a smaller budget, with the beach five to ten minutes' walk away.
The road toward Warang and Mbour brings you closer to the shops: that's where you do the day's shopping, fifteen minutes away. To the south, toward Joal, the coast becomes more and more deserted.
When to go
From November to May, the dry season brings the best beach conditions: clear skies, dry air, a sea that's generally easier to handle. It's also high season for overnight stays, so the time when day-use availability gets scarce — book as soon as your date is set.
From February to April, the sea gets distinctly cooler along this coast, around 19 to 21 °C. For a day with young children, a house with a pool then makes a real difference.
From June to October, the rainy season frees up the houses and prices drop. It's hot and muggy, the showers are short and mostly at night, and the vegetation is superb. It's the easiest time to get a great house for the day.
Good to know & booking
Do your shopping at the Mbour market, fifteen minutes away: the village has only the basics and can't supply a group lunch. Bring plenty of ice, fresh water for rinsing off, and sun protection even if shade is advertised.
The area lends itself well to an organized beach and relaxation day, if you prefer a package, and deep-sea sport fishing leaves from Mbour or Joal — a morning outing that combines well with lunch at the villa.
This page only includes houses that accept day rentals; the full selection, with overnight stays, is on the page of villas for rent in Nianing, houses with a pool on the page of villas with pool, and those facing the ocean on the page of sea-view villas.
You book by paying 20% of the total online, which secures the date; the balance is paid to the owner on the day, most often in cash. When several families share the cost, one person books and then collects from the others. No tourist tax: it's calculated per person per night, and there's no overnight stay.
Cancellation is free up to 7 days before the chosen date in low season (June 1 – October 31) and 14 days in high season (November 1 – May 31); after that, the booking is firm and the 20% is non-refundable. A booking canceled within 24 hours of confirmation is fully refunded as long as the date is more than seven days away. Last-minute bookings are firm as soon as they're confirmed, with one change of date possible up to 48 hours before — which lets you move by a day if the sea is rough and the owner has availability. If the owner cancels, we offer you an equivalent house between Nianing, Warang and Pointe Sarène, or refund all fees. The resident rate is shown on each house for residents of Senegal and the Senegalese diaspora, on an account verified after a phone call.
Who is it for?
Families on the Petite Côte — Mbour, Saly, Joal, Warang — who want a beach day without the drawbacks of a public beach: shade, toilets, a table and a gate.
Groups staying in hotels in the region, who treat themselves to a day of independence: cooking for themselves, being among themselves, letting the children come and go between the garden and the sand.
Medium-sized family celebrations, when you want a seaside setting rather than a function room, and want the children to have something to do all day.
And the last day of a trip: room checked out in the morning, flight in the evening, and one last day by the sea with your luggage safe behind a gate.
Frequently asked questions
Why rent a villa when the beach is public and free?
For everything behind the beach: shade between noon and 4 p.m., toilets, a shower to rinse off the salt, a kitchen, a table, and a place to leave your things without watching them. In Nianing, villas often have direct access to the sand, which makes the garden an extension of the beach.
What exactly does "direct beach access" mean?
Very different realities: a masonry staircase, a small gate onto the sand, or a sandy bank that erodes in the rainy season. With elderly relatives, a stroller or coolers, it changes everything. Ask for a precise description of the way down rather than relying on the phrase.
Can I come from Dakar for the day?
It's not very realistic: about 90 kilometers, or three to four hours' round trip by road. For an outing from the capital, Yène or Lake Retba (Pink Lake) are better suited. A day in Nianing is for families on the Petite Côte, travelers already in the area and the last day of a trip.
Is swimming safe?
It depends on the state of the sea that day: some days it's calm and perfect, on others the swell makes it hard to go in with young children. That's why a house with a pool as well as beach access is often worth the extra for a day — it doesn't depend on the marine weather.
Are there showers and toilets you can reach from the garden?
It varies a lot from house to house and it's something to settle explicitly. An outdoor shower and toilets you can reach without going through the bedrooms make a huge difference to a group's comfort on a beach day.
What is the best time to go?
From November to May for beach conditions, with a cool sea from January to March — the pool then takes over for the children. From June to October, it's hot and humid, but availability is much better and rates are lower.
How does payment work, and is there a tourist tax?
You pay 20% online to secure the date, then the balance to the owner on the day, most often in cash. When several families share the cost, one person books and then collects from the others. There's no tourist tax: it's counted per person per night, and a day rental involves none.
